Working with Trauma

modalities used: EMDR, Inner Family System (IFS), Regressions, Inner Child Work, Shadow Work, Tapping, Havening, Mindfulness

Trauma may be a big word, but it is something so basic and so common, modern psychology understands that trauma affects every one of us and plays a fundamental role in most inner struggles, behavioral disorders, neuroses and emotional crises. Yet our medical system, educational system, law, even psychiatry does not understand trauma very well.

Trauma is not that which happened to you (I.e. abuse , conflict, neglect, ect.) but what happened inside of you and stays sustained like an open wound as a result of what happened to you, or didn’t happen, like neglect, depriving a child’s needs, mostly emotional needs. The scenes of trauma are often simply at home or at school. The toll of sexual abuse and home violence is great in our society. One out of five have been sexually molested as a child, one in four was beaten by a parent to the point of a mark being made on their body (data from the CDC, U.S.).

There are layers to each trauma. The root trauma for any issue is usually before age 8, but further there is multi-generational trauma (ancestral) and past-life trauma (the soul’s biography) even behind that.

Too often one just accepts the scarring effects of difficult experiences on one’s psyche, not believing that there is really a way to heal and to resurrect the broken parts of self.

Trauma is stored in the body and also as a neurological phenomenon in the brain. The healing of trauma always involves the body, the safe work with difficult emotions, and addressing the charges at hand in a holistic way, to allow the release of these charges, reset, and integrate the consciousness that was locked in in the trauma.

No technique or approach can magically wipe away all trauma. But the work is extremely rewarding, in regaining emotional freedom, sovereignty, empowerment and clarity.

Counseling

The counseling that I offer is based on the approach that the resolution to the dilemma is always to be found inside oneself, and once found, will inevitably provoke the necessary changes in life for a new balance and a new evolutionary step to be initiated.

It can be quite difficult to understand the different causes and facets of a miserable circumstance, yet this is not what these complications of life are about. Whether the misery is experienced more internally or externally, it comes down to looking at the emotions that are there and what they are really wanting to say, as they are speaking their own wisdom. The evolutionary journey continues there, where the emotions clear up, the density lifts and you expand again into the joy of life.

A psychological struggle, or a choking life circumstance, always wants to point you to a blind spot and an emotion that is not allowed to be yet. It may also mean to be (temporarily) unaware of one's inner resources and the immense potentials that the challenges of life offer.

What was a dead-end road before can transform into a true path, once one has let go of added weight and bulky burdens.
